CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS

Students are to come to class prepared and on time.

What does it mean to be prepared?

                -Have paper and pencil

                -Bring your textbook

                -Bring your completed homework

-Students are only allowed to leave class with permission from the office or from the teacher and must use their Agenda Mate as a pass.

-Be ready to learn because we have to cover 8000 years of world history in 180 days!!!

Students will treat others with respect at all times.

What behaviors does this include?

                -Your actions

                -Your attitude

                -Your language

-Treat everyone like it’s their birthday!

Electronics may be used with teacher permission for pre-approved activities

What in the world does that mean?

-If Mrs. Baxley hasn’t given you permission then you shouldn’t be using your device.  We will use our devices very often in class but students must wait for permission AND be on task.  Students who are not on task will be redirected the first time. Following incidents will cause them to lose their electronics privilege in my classroom.

What are the consequences for inappropriate behavior?

-You will earn getting to eat lunch with Mrs. Baxley for the first offense of cursing in the classroom.  Following offenses will be seen as disrespect to our learning environment and reported to parents and administration.

-Using your electronics without permission or being off-task will cause you to lose that privilege.

-Using your electronics during a quiz or test will be cause for immediate confiscation of your device and it will be turned over to the office.  You will receive a 0 on that assignment and further administrative consequences will follow.

-Students that are disciplined by administration may not be eligible for honor societies for up to a year following the incident.

-Students who disrupt the learning environment may have their seat assignment changed and their parents will be notified.

-FYI- Because Mrs. Baxley is a resident of this community she is likely to see your parents at any time and is always happy to give a report.

-Parents are encouraged to email Mrs. Baxley any time they have questions or concerns. (I usually respond more quickly to email than phone calls.)  baxley_n@hcde.org

Late work policy

IT IS ALWAYS BETTER TO TURN IN LATE WORK THAN TO TURN IN NOTHING AT ALL

-Work turned in late will have 10 points deducted from the earned score.

-All late work must be turned in 2 weeks before the end of a Nine Week Quarter.

-Late work will be graded at Mrs. Baxley’s convenience.

-NO LATE WORK WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER A NINE WEEKS HAS ENDED!!!

Grading policy

Hamilton County Grading Scale

                A = 93-100, B = 85-92, C = 75-84, D = 70-74, F = 0-69

Per HCDE Policy, Mrs. Baxley counts tests for 50% and daily work for 50% of a student’s grade.
