Information Items

  • MS Schedule Adjustments – Beginning on Tuesday, October 15, our MS class schedule will be adjusted to add some additional teaching, learning, and application time on Thursdays and Fridays to replace the shorter classroom blocks.  This schedule will allow us to be more aligned as a school and our teachers are excited that their students will have the additional time to dig deeper into the concepts and skills they are learning.  The new schedule will continue with the shorter 1-8 class blocks on Mondays, odd class blocks on Tuesdays and Thursday, and even class blocks on Wednesdays and Fridays.
  • Go Cart Team Sponsors – Our Signal Mountain Go-Cart Team is seeking business or corporate sponsors as they look to purchase much-needed parts, tools, and supplies for this year’s race season.  Different sponsorship levels are available with business logos being placed on the go cart and/or team shirts.  For more information or to become a sponsor, please contact Megan Oliver at oliver_megan@hcde.org.
  • Parent Teacher Conferences – Our first semester Parent Teacher Conference evening will take place on Thursday, October 17 from 2:45 until 6:15.  Conferences will be scheduled by teachers at specific times with the teacher contacting parents as needed or by parents contacting teachers.
  • Athletics Physicals – A reminder that any student trying out for or participating on any athletics team must have a current physical uploaded to Dragonfly.  For information regarding Dragonfly or athletics, please visit our school website and click on “Athletics” or contact the sport-specific coach.
  • Senior Portraits – Seniors must contact Prestige at 423-892-1332 to schedule their Senior Portraits to be made before October 11.  Photographers will be coming to SMMHS at a later date to take portraits for any remaining seniors.
  • Parent ManageBac Login Information – Emails providing information for parent logins for ManageBac (our online IB learning platform that allows students and parents to view class assignments and materials, messages, due dates and more).  Please note that parents and students continue to access grades and assignment names in Power School.  If you did not receive an email, please email Mrs. Swan at swan_d@hcde.org or Mrs. Patton at patton_s@hcde.org.  If you have a question about ManageBac information for a specific class, please contact the teacher.
  • World Languages Tutoring – Tutoring for French, German, and Spanish has now begun and will take place on Tuesdays in Mrs. Geerlings’ room 2118 in the lower HS hall.  Tutoring with Ms. Meznar and Mrs. Geerlings will take place every Tuesday from 2:50 to 3:50.  French and Spanish tutoring will be available each week and German tutoring will be available every other week.
  • Chromebook Insurance – A reminder that parents are encouraged to purchase the Chromebook insurance option through the district for $25 per year with the deadline for insurance enrollment being October 31, 2019.  Please note that parents may also consider purchasing a protective case for their child’s Chromebook if they choose.  If you have questions, please contact Mrs. Roddy.
