Information Items

  • 8th Grade Information – Just a few reminders regarding 8th grade end-of-year activities.  Promotion practice will take place on Monday, May 20 with attendance being required to participate in the promotion on Tuesday, May 21.  Following practice, the 8th grade students and teachers will walk to the Signal Mountain Camp for their Celebration activities taking place until the end of the school day.  Finally, promotion will take place on Tuesday, May 21 at 8:00 in the HS gym.  Students will report to the cafeteria at 7:30 am and parents will be able to sign their students out afterward in the cafeteria.

  • Last Day of School – Please note that the official last day of school will take place on Thursday, May 23 and will be a half-day of school.  The buses will run as usual in the morning and will run again following our 10:55 dismissal.

  • Weekly Parent Communications – We hope that everyone has benefited from our Weekly Parent Communications for the year.  This will be our last communication of the year, so be on the lookout for the communications to resume in late-July and August for the 19-20 school year.

  • Cell Phone and Electronic Device Policy Update – With HCDE extending the 1:1 Chromebook initiative into high school next year, there will be a new student cell phone and electronic device policy in place for the upcoming 19-20 school year.  Please be on the lookout for information regarding this policy so you can review the expectations with your students.

  • HS Cross Country Summer Training – Anyone interested in running HS Cross Country next year needs to see Coach Carpenter for their summer training schedule.  Team practices will begin June 11 and all TSSAA forms and an updated sports physical must be uploaded to Dragonfly before coming to practice.  A digital version of the training schedule can also be found on www.smtrackandcc.com.  Please email Coach Carpenter at carpenter_dustin@hcde.org if you have any questions.

  • Sports Physicals – Please note that all MS and HS students must have a physical completed and it must remain active throughout the season in order to participate in any sport.  All physicals completed before April 15, 2019 will expire on June 30, 2019 per TSSAA and TMSAA rules.  Physicals can be administered by primary physicians or through the Erlanger Sports and Health Institute on April 27 from 8:00 to 12:00 or on May 14 from 4:00 to 7:00.  All physicals for students in grades 9-12 are free and physicals for students in grades 6-8 are $15.

  • Dragonfly Replacing PRIVIT – A reminder that our former electronic health record management system, PRIVIT, will now be changing to Dragonfly.  Like formerly done through PRIVIT, parents will need to upload all health forms electronically before the start of your child’s sports season.  Health forms, or physicals, for next year can be uploaded starting on April 15, 2019.  For information about creating your Dragonfly profile and accessing the SMMHS school code, please visit the SMMHS athletics website page.
