  • Congratulations to our Junior Beta members who spent their Saturday morning giving back to our community! Students partnered with the Mountain Arts Community Center to help with a Spring Clean-Up at the Children’s Teaching Garden!

  • Congratulations to our high school boys soccer team for defeating Red Bank High School 1-0 to finish undefeated in District Competition. In extra time, Junior Billy Wooden scored the winning goal and Senior Goalkeeper Colton Selzer got the shut-out in the sticks!

  • Congratulations to our high school boys lacrosse team on their 15-4 WIN over Soddy Daisy! They retain the Founder’s Classic trophy and are now Region Champs!

  • Congratulations to our chorus program for a great concert with their end of year “Countdown of Self” performance!

  • Congratulations to the middle school girls lacrosse club for finishing the regular season with wins over Baylor! The varsity team heads into the playoffs ranked #1! 

  • Congratulations to our high school tennis teams! With wins over Hixson, both the boys and girls are district champs! A big thank you to our seniors: Kate Gilbert, Brooke Martin, Alden Warner, Luke Sowa, and Hank Stubblefield! Boys and girls were well represented in the Individuals District tournament as well!. Multiple medal winners in all brackets with players advancing to the Individuals Regional tournament. Girls Singles: First Place, Ananya Panicker,  Girls Doubles: First Place, Kate Gilbert & Brooke Martin, Boys Singles: First Place, Micah Morris, Boys Doubles: Runner up, Carter Romanek & Joseph Bastone!

  • Congratulations to our Prom King and Queen of 2026,  Colin Sawhill and Claire Allen! 

  • Congratulations to Avery LaPorte, who has recorded over 100 strikeouts in her softball pitching career! What a great milestone and here’s to many more! 

  • Congratulations to Kendall Jeppesen who was named the 2026 TN area 4 Special Olympics athlete of the year! We are so proud of Kendall and all of her hard work!  She also got to run the torch Saturday at the Traditional Track and Field event! 

  • Congratulations to our high school girls lacrosse team for a 14-3 win over Bradley County! They also had a great comeback win over Gatlinburg-Pittman 9-8 and a 19-1 win over Sevier Co.! 

  • Congratulations to our high school track and field team for a great week preparing for the post-season! Three amazing multi event athletes competed in the TSSAA DI Class AA East Section Decathlon & Pentathlon Meet. Senior Marlee Burkley won 1st in the pentathlon and is moving onto State! Junior Mallie Brown finished 6th and has a solid chance at getting an at-large bid to the state championship! Junior Gavin McKenzie finished 10th in the two day Decathlon! Thank you to all of our seniors who have worked hard over the years: Marlee Burkley, Fiona Cisto, Ebba Critser, Adelin Glover, Aiden Haun, Natalie McGann, Lydia Moore, Sam Pittman, Maxine Richards, Colin Sawhill, and Hudson Sveadas!

  • Congratulations to our Leo Club for their feature on HCS social media! During National Volunteer Week, Signal Mountain Middle High’s Leo Club highlights the impact students can make by giving back to their community. What started as a school service club has grown into the largest Leo Club in Tennessee, with around 200 members serving year-round. The club participates in 18 to 24 service events annually, including recycling projects, blood drives, Meals for Hope, Wreaths Across America, and community festivals. CLICK HERE to read the full story to learn how Leo Club is helping students grow while making a difference.

Information and Updates

  • State testing wraps up this week for middle and high school students. Be sure your student is coming prepared daily with a fully charged Chromebook! For middle school, tests include all math, science, social studies, and ELA. For high school, tests include Alg 1, Geometry, Alg 2, Biology, US History, English 1 and English 2. 

  • 26-27 Returning Student and New Student Registration – A reminder that families with students returning to an HCS school for the 26-27 school year can begin completing the online registration process on April 27 and families with new HCS students can begin the online process on June 1.  For more information regarding student registration, please visit www.hcde.org/registration.

  • Last year’s yearbook sold out. Be sure to purchases yours in advance to avoid missing out! The 2026 yearbook is still on sale until the last day of school. Order links and distribution info can be found on our school website: Click on for families & yearbooks. 

  • Our 6th-grade Eagles are kicking off the 10th annual Walk for Water! This year, we’ve set a goal of $5,000 to partner with Healing Hands International and repair essential wells in the Bikita district of Zimbabwe. Over the last decade, SMMHS has raised nearly $60,000 to provide clean water across the globe, connecting our classroom lessons in history, science, and literature to real-world impact.   • Join our high school boys soccer team at East Hamilton HS on Monday evening for a special night. EHHS will be naming their field after our beloved Coach Daverson.  If you can make it, we’d love to have you support this special evening and help cheer on our soccer eagles. The dedication will take place  on Monday, April 27th at 6:45PM.

  • Colorguard tryouts will be April 27 from 4:30-6:30pm, April 28 from 5:30-7:30pm , and April 30 from 5:30-7:30pm. For more information, email pitner_holly@hcde.org 

  • Attention parents of student athletes: 2026 Sport Physicals will be offered on: May 16 (8-11:30) at Erlanger Sports Medicine/1100 E. 3rd Street, Suite G-102  Chattanooga, TN. Erlanger affiliated schools: Grades 9-12 no charge/Grades 6-8 $15. 

  • Work Based Learning and the testing schedule: WBL students can leave during their regular scheduled work time (f.ex 1.25pm for 7th/8th period or 10.30am for 5th/6th period) regardless of schedule changes. If the WBL period is at the beginning of the day, students report to Ms. Draper’s room (2215) and work on assignments for the class they will be missing later in the day or they will be marked absent.

  • Signal Serves is partnering with Partnership for Families, Children, and Adults to provide “Summer Packs” for Hamilton County students, helping ensure they have food, fun activities, and learning materials while school is out. SMMHS community members are invited to donate nonperishable food, games, and study supplies or volunteer at a packing event to support local families in need, and to attend our packing event in the middle school gym on May 6th @5pm .   • The HCS hardship transfer process has been audited and updated to strengthen consistency and transparency. The new webpage can be found HERE. The application will open on March 23, close on April 17, and decisions will be communicated by May 15. This timeline provides families additional time to pursue a School Choice seat if needed. All families currently on hardship will need to reapply for next school year using the new PowerSchool form.

  • This month, we are highlighting the IB Learner Profile Trait of Knowledgeable! IB Knowledgeable students develop and use conceptual understanding, exploring knowledge across a range of disciplines. They engage with issues and ideas that have local and global significance. Take note of how your student meets this description and give them praise for a job well done! We will celebrate our Knowledgeable students at the end of the month!

The PowerSchool Parent Portal is a valuable resource available to HCS parents/guardians to connect with your child’s school about their learning journey. You can monitor grades, attendance and behavior, and complete important forms within your account. Download the PowerSchool Mobile App for instant access to student performance and online forms on any device. At the end of each week throughout the school year, families should be on the lookout for a Weekly Parent Communication email.  These emails contain celebrations, informational items, and calendar items to keep everyone informed.
