Morning Announcements
High School:
FCA will be meeting in the MS gym tomorrow morning at 7:15. Everyone is welcome!
Furman will visit SMMHS Wednesday, September 11 at 9:45. Please come by the Fish Bowl for a DS pass if you are interested in attending this information session.
The JV High School Football Team, in an exciting comeback game, defeated Sequatchie Co. last night 34-32 on a last-play touchdown by Camden Johnston as time expired! Congratulations to those young men!
If you are a high school girl interested in exploring a STEM related career, consider joining the Women in STEM Club!! We will compete in STEM competitions, host guest speakers, do fun science related activities, and more! If you did not join us in Ms. McCormack’s room for the interest meeting before school there is another one after school today. Applications will be handed out at the meeting and available for pick-up in Ms. McCormack’s room next week.
Homecoming Week is just around the corner, and it is almost time to select our 2024 Homecoming Court. Nominations for Homecoming Court will take place on Wednesday, September 11th. Any high school student who does not want his or her name on the nominations list should email Mrs. Robertson or stop by her room this week, Room 2214, to opt out of Homecoming Court nominations.
Attention internationally-minded eagles! It’s time start preparing for Model United Nations! The meeting will be on Wednesday, September 11th for high school students who are interested. The forms to be filled out are on the high school Model UN page of our school website. If you have questions or can’t find the form, please contact Mrs. Whitney or Ms. Wade.
Seniors- The ACT retake test for seniors only will be Wednesday, October 23 during the school day. All seniors are automatically registered, and there is no cost.
Attention Juniors: Consider signing up to take the PSAT test which is the qualifier for the National Merit Scholarship Program. Some sophomores and freshmen also sign up to take the PSAT for practice. It will be held at school on Friday, October 25th in the middle school gym. All you need to do to sign up is pay the $18 fee via the link found in Managebac. Deadline to pay is October 4th.
Middle School
Be sure and join the Middle School Cross Country teams today as they take on East Ridge and Hunter in their final regular season meet at the Chickamauga Dam at 5:00.
Any middle school kids interested in wrestling this year need to meet in the lunchroom on Friday at the start of DS.
The boys and Girls tennis team won their match against Hixson! Outstanding work to all players!

Attention Middle Schoolers! The middle school dodgeball tournament is coming up and will be held on Wednesday, September 25 during DS as part of our homecoming celebration. The cost to attend or play is $1 per student. Student Council will begin collecting money during lunch on September 11. Sign your team up on Managebac and get a permission form turned in by September 16 to play.
