Welcome to SMMHS

 

If your student is not currently enrolled in a Hamilton County School, you will need to complete a new student registration. Scroll for the New Student Registration section.

We are excited to see so many families already starting the registration process! With registration now open, we want to provide below some important information and reminders to help with the process. 

RETURNING STUDENT REGISTRATION 24-25

All returning students in grades 6-12 (including rising 6th grade students joining us from Nolan and Thrasher) MUST SUBMIT A RETURNING STUDENT INFORMATION UPDATE THROUGH YOUR POWERSCHOOL PARENT PORTAL. The Returning Student Update will be open between May 1-31, and will reopen again in late July. If your student is not returning to SMMHS for 24-25, please notify our registrar, Susan Patton, [email protected]

Only students new to SMMHS will complete registration and orientation activities in person on our August Registration Day.

  • STEP 1 --- Complete the Returning Student Update 24-25 through your PowerSchool Parent Portal. (Contact [email protected] if you need a password reset or assistance with creating an account.) It is vital that families submit the Returning Student Update as soon as possible for staffing decisions and so the school has the latest information necessary for communication and dismissal contacts for your student. Please enter all fields in the Contacts section (address, email, phone) and answer all yes/no questions concerning emergency contact, custody, can pick up student, etc.

2 Proofs of Residency can be any of the following documents at the physical address in our school zone in Guardian’s name dated within the last 30 days:

*Please note the student’s name and grade level on the proof-of-residency copies or in the email

  • Mortgage, Lease or Deed
  • Electric, water, gas, or cable dated within the last 30 days
  • Agency or Court Documentation with address dated within the last 30 days (IRS, SS Disability)
  • Insurance (medical, life, auto, home) statement dated within the last 30 days
  • Current Bank Statement or Employment Check Stub with address dated within the last 30 days

*Once received, the submissions will be reviewed and you will only be contacted if different or additional residency documentation is needed.  If there are residency questions, the school social worker may conduct home visits as needed to verify residency.

Although Registration Day on August 5th (tentative date pending district PD schedule) is meant for new students to SMMHS, returning families who need assistance with online registration can visit the school between 9-11 AM.

Parking passes will be sold on a different day, details forthcoming.

NEW STUDENT REGISTRATION 24-25

The New Student Online Registration for the 24-25 school year is scheduled to open MAY 20TH. During the registration process, you will want to have a scanned copy, or be able to take a photo with your phone, of the following documents to upload during the online registration process:

  • 2 Proofs of Residence can be any of the following documents at the physical address in Guardian’s name
    • Mortgage, Lease or Deed
    • Electric, water, gas, or cable dated within the last 30 days
    • Agency or Court Documentation with address dated within the last 30 days (IRS, SS Disability)
    • Insurance (medical, life, auto, home) statement dated within the last 30 days
    • Current Bank Statement or Employment Check Stub with address dated within the last 30 days
  • Student’s Birth Certificate - recommended, but not required
  • Student’s TN Immunization Form & Physical-Documented on TN Form (this form may be obtained at Pediatrician's office or Hamilton County Health Department), Certificate from Health Care Provider for Medical Exemption from Immunizations or Signed Statement from parent/guardian that vaccination conflicts with their religious tenets or practices.
  • If you have a special circumstance regarding custody, please provide the school with a copy of court documents signed by a magistrate.

New Student Registration Day/ TBA. New students and their families will check-in at the school’s front entrance. New families who have completed registration (submitted the online registration with all required documents) will be directed to our Media Center to speak with your school counselor about course selections followed by a student-led tour. Families who have not started or are still working on registration will be directed to a computer classroom for assistance. Please bring a copy of the above listed required documents if you have not previously provided them to the school. Once registration is complete, the student and their family can visit welcome stations to learn more about SMMHS!
