Welcome to SMMHS

We look forward to working with you for the 2022-2023 school year.  This year, registration will be all online thru your PowerSchool parent portal. 

If your student is not currently enrolled in a Hamilton County School, you will need to complete a new student registration.

Returning Student Registration 2022-2023

All returning students in grades 6-12 (including rising 6th grade students joining us from Nolan and Thrasher) MUST SUBMIT A REGISTRATION THROUGH THE ONLINE REGISTRATION PROCESS. The Returning Student Update portal will be open May 1-31, and will reopen again in mid-July. Only students new to SMMHS will complete registration and orientation activities in person on our August 5th Registration Day.

To register a returning student, parents have 2 STEPS to complete:

· STEP 1 --- Complete the Returning Student Update 22-23 through your PowerSchool Parent Portal. (Contact [email protected] if you need a password reset.) It is recommended to use Google Chrome on a desktop/laptop rather than a phone. To ensure that you receive information from your student’s teachers and other important school updates, please enter all fields in the Contacts section (address, email, phone) and answer all yes/no questions concerning emergency contact, custody, can pick up student, etc.

· STEP 2 --- Email 2 proofs-of-residency to [email protected] 2 Proofs of Residency can be any of the following documents at the physical address in our school zone in Guardian’s name dated within the last 60 days:

Please note the student’s name and grade level on the proof-of-residency copies or in the email

· Mortgage, Lease, or Deed

· Electric, water, gas, or cable

· Agency or Court Documentation with address (IRS, SS Disability)

· Insurance (medical, life, auto, home) statement

· Current Bank Statement or Employment Check Stub with address

Once received, the submissions will be reviewed and you will only be contacted if different or additional residency documentation is needed.

Although Registration Day on August 5th is meant for new students to SMMHS, returning students are welcome to visit the school between 9-11 AM if you need assistance with online registration or you would like to visit the welcome stations. Parking passes will be sold on a different day, details forthcoming.

We received this message from the county on 5/2/22:

"HCS registration for returning students is now available through the Parent Portal until May 31. When trying to register, if you log in to the Parent Portal and receive a ‘Record not Found’ message, please wait for an email stating the record is available for update. Once you receive the email, then you may log in and complete the registration process. Due to technical issues, receipt of this email may be delayed. We are working to resolve this issue. Thank you for your patience and understanding."

 

New Student Registration for the 2022-2023 School Year New Student Online Registration is accessible through, registration The New Student Online Registration for the 22-23 school year is scheduled to open June 1st. During the registration process, you will want to have a scanned copy, or be able to take a photo with your phone, of the following documents to upload during the online registration process:

· 2 Proofs of Residence can be any of the following documents at the physical address in our school zone in Guardian’s name dated within the last 60 days:

o Mortgage, Lease, or Deed

o Electric, water, gas, or cable

o Agency or Court Documentation with address (IRS, SS Disability)

o Insurance (medical, life, auto, home) statement

o Current Bank Statement or Employment Check Stub with address

· Student’s Birth Certificate

· Student’s TN Immunization Form & Physical-Documented on TN Form (this form may be obtained at Signal Mountain Pediatrics or Hamilton County Health Department)

· If you have a special circumstance regarding custody, please email a copy of court documents signed by a magistrate to Susan Patton at [email protected]
New student registration link

On our Friday, August 5th Registration Day from 9-11 AM, new students and their families will check-in at the school’s front entrance. Families who have completed registration (submitted the online registration with all required documents) will receive a map of welcome stations to visit which will include student-led tours. Families who have not started or are still working on registration will be directed to our Media Center. Counselors will be there ready to assist with completing registration. Please bring a copy of the above listed required documents if you have not previously provided them to the school. Once registration is complete, the student and their family can visit the welcome stations to learn more about SMMHS!

Hardship Applications are available May 1- May 31. For a Hardship Transfer Request Form and information about Hardship application requirements, visit Hardship Information at hcde.org.
