Hello My Name Is...

Kim Brown

This is my ninth year as a teacher at Signal Mountain and my 16th year teaching in Hamilton County. I am currently teaching 7th grade STEM and high school Ecology. I have previously taught middle school science at SMMHS. Before joining the Signal Mountain faculty, I taught Biology, Biology II, Anatomy and Physiology, Environmental Science, and Psychology at East Ridge High School. I enjoy teaching middle school because of the excitement and energy that middle school students bring with them to class every day. I enjoy teaching high school because of the maturity that students bring to the curriculum and the depth at which we can explore the concepts.

I am a certified Naturalist with degrees in Biology, Education and Journalism; a MS in Curriculum, and an Ed.S in Instructional Leadership. I love being outdoors and working with nature. I am married with one daughter who is an engineering student at the University of Tennessee and who graduated from the IB Diploma Program at SMMHS. We live on a farm in Chickamauga, Ga and have two horses, five dogs, and four cats.

My classes this year will be paperless and all work will be done in Google Classroom. It is imperative that students arrive every single day with a charged Chromebook. I recommend that students also purchase a set of earbuds so that they can watch video clips as part of their in-class research.
